Bio
Meet Carolyn Strong, a fine-arts trained photographer whose soul is deeply rooted in nature, emotion, and the art of storytelling. Based in Durango, Colorado, Carolyn began her creative journey earning a Fine Arts degree from the University of New Mexico, then building a vibrant art education business that engaged over 800 children weekly with 35 teachers on staff.
By 2019 she recognized a calling beyond the classroom—she yearned to make her own art and work with real people in extraordinary locations. A formative study with National Geographic photographers in Iceland in 2020 marked the turning point. Since then, she has dedicated her lens to capturing genuine, honest emotion amid the wild beauty of the Southwest.
Her photography thrives in the unpredictable: summit trails, backpacking into remote vistas, plunging into icy waterfalls, and camp-fires under big skies. Carolyn embraces change—shifting light, weather, feelings—as naturally as the clouds overhead. She believes that to photograph someone is a privilege: a chance to honor their story, in the space between adventure and intimacy.
Whether it’s couples sharing laughter in a canyon, an individual finding empowerment beneath star-light, or families immersed in the raw elements of their surroundings, Carolyn delivers cinematic imagery that resonates long after the shutter clicks. She invites every client to join her for love, light, laughter and a shared moment in time.
Her ethos is simple: Be brave. Be wild. Stay forever hungry for love, art, knowledge and adventure.
