My work explores themes of migration, political conflict, and social issues in Algerian society, particularly the realities of illegal immigration across the Mediterranean. Using a conceptual and experimental approach, I blend traditional and contemporary mediums—drawing, painting, photography, video, installation, sculpture, and digital collage—to express a deep humanitarian message. Inspired by artists such as Van Gogh, Magritte, Basquiat, Warhol, and Japanese art, my style fuses surrealism, symbolism, and expressionism. Through this visual language, I reflect on personal experience, cultural identity, and the universal desire for freedom and change. My goal is to challenge conventions and create emotionally resonant works that connect people across borders. Bilal’s artistic practice is deeply influenced by themes of migration, illegal immigration across the Mediterranean, and the political and social tensions within Algerian society. His work also symbolically explores global issues such as the struggle over natural resources and power. Drawing inspiration from artists like Vincent van Gogh, René Magritte, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, and elements of Japanese art, Bilal blends surrealism, expressionism, and pop art into a unique visual language. He began with drawing and painting, later expanding into photography, video art, installation, sculpture, digital painting, and collage. His multidisciplinary approach reflects a strong commitment to social commentary, human rights, and cultural identity. Through a blend of reality and imagination, he creates artworks that evoke emotion, question tradition, and aim to inspire change. His work bridges authenticity and modernity, offering a distinct perspective that speaks to both personal and collective experiences.
