Size: 50 X 70 X 3 cm
Details: "Rich in gold, but peaceful," Posidonius. This is how the Helvetii of the end of the 2nd century BC were described by the Greek historian. Helvetii (Latin Helvetii) — a large Celtic tribe that inhabited the northwestern part of modern Switzerland. The tribes were engaged in animal husbandry, mined gold, lived in houses on stilts, were able to process metal, spoke their language, and had their coins and religion. Thus, the first main picture of the triptych from a large series of works devoted to the history of Switzerland depicts a stone: raw gold. In it, we can see the ancient buildings on stilts standing in the lake, in which the Helvetians lived and which have survived to this day. The tribes did this to have more land for pastures or, according to another version, to protect against wild animals. The artist uses a hand-made color only.
